Comprehensive Joint Replacement Care in Tucson, AZ
When you undergo joint replacement with Carondelet Health Network or Carondelet Medical Network, we’re with you every step of the way. This includes a dedicated program coordinator who will be your primary resource for questions, updates on your daily progress, and helping ensure an overall positive experience. Overseeing your care is our team of registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists, each with specialized training.
Preparing For Joint Replacement Surgery
To begin, we ask you to attend a 1.5-hour education class we call our Joint Camp. During this time, you will be able to ask questions from the same staff you will see throughout your surgery and recovery period while learning how to prepare for and after your joint replacement. You do not need to bring anything to our Joint Camp class, but you may want to bring a loved one or caretaker with you. However, if you have any questions around post-operative care or your surgery, bring them to Joint Camp. The class is hosted by the Joint Replacement Center’s Program Coordinator.
Recovering From Joint Replacement Surgery
Patients who meet specific criteria and receive their surgeon’s recommendation will have a physical therapy assessment on the day of their surgery.
Others may receive therapy in our on-site pool, the only inpatient pool therapy in Southern Arizona. Pool therapy is a unique post-operative rehabilitation option, which optimizes water buoyancy to practice resistance and strengthen training in a controlled environment. Ask your orthopedic care team if you may benefit from pool therapy after your joint replacement procedure.
